North Island Secondary Schools Curling Cup

Online registrations for the North Island Secondary Schools Curling Cup (NISSCC) are now OPEN. Registrations will close on Friday 1st August 2025. The draw will go live on Monday 11th August 2025.

Competition Information & Registration


Overview

The NISSCC is open to all secondary schools in the North Island, and is the only ice team sport competition available for secondary school teams in North Island during tournament week!

Event Details

  • Location: Paradice Ice Skating Rink, 150 Lansford Crescent, Avondale.

  • Date and Arrival Times

    • Monday 25th August: 8:45 AM - 12:30 PM

    • Tuesday 26th August: 7:15 AM - 12:30 PM

    • Wednesday 27th August: 7:15 AM - 12:30 PM​​​​​​​

  • Cost: $270 (excludes GST). Schools may divide this cost among players as they see fit.
    (This covers 35% of the ice fees; Auckland Curling will pay for the remaining 65%).

Divisions

There is one open division, and the top three teams will be awarded gold, silver and bronze medals. 

The Spirit of Curling award will be awarded at the conclusion of the Auckland Secondary Schools Cup.

Our club also have legacy Shields that we will award to the top:

  • Girls team (teams must comprise all girls)
  • Boys team (teams must comprise all boys)
  • Mixed team (teams must adhere to an on-ice line up of M-F-M-F or F-M-F-M throughout the competition). 

We do not currently have a legacy Shield for Open teams.

Registration

Your school's Teacher in Charge (TIC) can register your school team by completing the online form. One form per team. Please think of a fun but short Team Name.

Registrations close on Friday 1st August 2025. The draw will go live on Monday 11th August 2025.

Playing System, Rules & Regulations


Playing System

​​​​​​​The following playing system is subject to the number of teams registered for 2024. 

Round Robin

Three pools play a single round robin.

Playoffs

During Semifinals, the top team across the three pools (based on LSD, not W/L record) will play against the best placed 2nd team (based on LSD). The other top teams across the other two pools play against each other. Winner of semis advance to Gold final, loser of semis to Bronze.

Ranking games scheduled to deterimine final rankings overall, and for each division.
